Significant milestone reached in Cambuslang homes project
Paisley-based construction firm The JR Group is celebrating reaching a significant milestone in the development of a substantial affordable housing project in Cambuslang.
The building partner has reached half way point in creating 88 homes, which will be available for rent or shared equity on Bridge Street, Cambuslang and are being built on behalf of Link Group.
Despite challenges faced by the construction sector due to the outbreak of COVID-19 since work began in October 2019, residents are on track to be welcomed into their new homes by June 2021.
Set across 10 apartment blocks, the development of affordable homes includes one and two bedroom flats, of four and six storeys, along with a range of two and three bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses.
As well as parking provision, residents also enjoy access to open amenity space with links to roads and quick access to nearby shops.
The JR Group, which works closely with Link Group on a range of projects, has released imagery and drone footage of the development which was brought to life with the help of a host of key subcontracting partners and suppliers.
John McEwan, senior site manager with The JR Group, said: “The progress that has been made at the Bridge Street development in the space of just 10 months is excellent. It’s thanks to the hard work of everyone involved that we are now celebrating being halfway towards completion.
“The coronavirus pandemic has not come without its challenges for the construction industry, but we are delighted to be back on site and the team’s approach to the new sector guidance has been exemplary.
“The Bridge Street development is designed to boost the provision of high-quality, affordable housing in Cambuslang and with a range of different house types on offer to suit a range of needs.
“We are proud to be bringing this attractive development to the area and we look forward to a successful completion.”
The JR Group employs around 170 staff and was founded in Paisley in 1995. It started as a scaffolding business and is now one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland. The business operates throughout Scotland and Northern England working on behalf of a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, registered social landlords and private clients.
