Simpson Primary School Parent Council in Bathgate has received a generous £3,000 donation from Persimmon East Scotland to support their efforts to create additional needs and nurture spaces within the school.

The Parent Council is committed to enhancing the well-being of students by funding essential soft furnishings, sensory lighting, and specialised equipment tailored to provide a comfortable and supportive environment. These new spaces aim to improve the overall school experience for children with additional needs.

In addition to their commitment to enhancing school facilities, the Parent Council regularly organises family-oriented fundraising activities throughout the year. This year’s events include a family night disco, Halloween discos, the production of personalised Christmas cards, and a Christmas school fayre—all aimed at fostering community spirit and raising funds for the school.

The donation comes as part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which supports local charities and good causes where the company operates. In the past five years, the programme has seen over £360,000 distributed across Scotland to help strengthen communities.

Neil Parry, managing director at Persimmon East Scotland, said: “We’re thrilled to support Simpson Primary School Parent Council in their efforts to create inclusive and nurturing spaces for students. The work they do is invaluable and will no doubt have a positive impact on the children and their families.

“We’re committed to supporting the communities we operate in and as a Bathgate-based business,  we’re delighted to contribute to such an important cause.”

A spokesperson for Simpson Primary School Parent Council added: “The Parent Council in conjunction with the school are over the moon to receive such support from Persimmon Homes. The money will enable us to enrich our children’s experiences, provide safe and nurturing environments and allow our additional fundraising efforts to go towards other positive ventures.”
