Social rented flats planned for Govanhill gap site
A brownfield site in Govanhill could be brought back into use under new plans lodged for 12 apartments for social rent.
About this development:
- Authority:Glasgow City
- Type:Residential
- Applications:
- Team:Morris & Spottiswodd (developer), Mast Architects (architect)
Morris & Spottiswood and Mast Architects propose to deliver a tenement-style block of flats between garages and an existing block of tenements at 17 South Annandale Street.
Plans involve a four-storey building with laurel hedges planted at street level and communal gardens with cycle and bin stores.
The 0.89-hectare site has lain empty for two decades.
Local councillor Soryia Siddique said: “There is demand for social housing, including family homes, in Southside Central.
“It is important community views are taken on board, flats are meeting required energy efficiency standards and generating renewable energy, thus ensuring net zero targets are being met and decreasing the burden of energy costs.”
