St Andrews Timber to host Landscape Academy’s second Scottish workshop

St Andrews Timber to host Landscape Academy’s second Scottish workshop

The Landscape Academy is returning to Scotland later this month to stage another workshop hosted by St Andrews Timber & Building Supplies.

The Chester-based company held its first training sessions north of the Border in April when it visited St Andrews’ Livingston branch to advise on pricing and quantities as well as staging a paving demonstration.

Such was the success of the inaugural two-day event, that the spacious West Lothian facility has again been selected for the Academy’s return.

On the agenda on this occasion will be a Flowpoint workshop specifically developed with Ultrascape to meet the needs of landscapers who would like to gain more knowledge about this product and it will cover information on the manufacturer’s recommendations, materials, methods, and installation.

Also scheduled for attendees is a paving workshop seminar, the course having been developed to provide delegates the opportunity to understand paving construction in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The course combines theory and practical demonstration training and will help fully explain the installation requirements for natural stone and porcelain paving to industry standards. Also up for discussion will be the upcoming BS7533-102 code of practice which applies to domestic projects.

The sessions will run over Thursday, 31st October and Friday 1st November and will be open to members of the public and trade. St Andrews staff from Edinburgh and Paisley will also be participating as they look to enhance their landscaping knowledge.

“It was great to hear the Landscape Academy found their first workshop so rewarding and we are more than happy to welcome them back to our Livingston branch,” said operations director Kerrie Ferguson.

“It tells us we are a good fit and we feel our state-of-the-art Livingston depot is a great learning space for the landscapers of the future.

“With the growing selection of specialist landscaping supplies we have there, it made complete sense to use the same venue.

“It presents us with another excellent opportunity to put some of our employees through the training so they can expand their knowledge which in turn will help the customer journey at all our branches, whether that be for professional or domestic projects.”

Landscape Academy founder Mark Youde said: “We are all about giving back to the landscaping sector and these training sessions are central to that.

“We came to St Andrews’ impressive Livingston branch to deliver our first programme and it makes perfect sense to go back there as we were given such a warm welcome and the facilities were ideal for what we wanted to do.”
