Long-established architectural firm Bracewell Stirling Consulting has appointed Stephen Lynas to a newly formed role as business development manager as part of its ambitious growth plans.

Bringing a wealth of experience and strategic vision to support Bracewell Stirling’s teams in Tillicoultry, Inverness, and Oban, Stephen’s impressive background in architecture, project management, and business development is set to enhance the company’s service offering.

Stephen, who has worked in architecture and construction for more than 26 years, will play a key role in delivering the organisation’s growth strategy by consolidating and expanding its services in design & build, pre-construction, and framework & partnership working. His responsibilities will cover all aspects of business development, working closely with clients to build on Bracewell Stirling’s comprehensive housing and commercial project portfolio.

Prior to joining Bracewell Stirling, Stephen began his career as a Chartered Architect in 1997 and has since achieved a successful track record in project design and delivery across a wide range of sectors and building types. Initially working in private practice, he moved into project management, before spending over 20 years in pre-construction, bid management, and business development with a regional main contractor on various projects across Scotland.

Stephen Lynas, business development manager, said: “This is an extremely exciting time to join Bracewell’s. Having worked with them as a client and contractor over the years, I’m aware of their well-earned reputation in the architectural sector. Invited to come on board by senior partners, David Keith and Amanda MacRitchie, it’s a pleasure to join the business to help consolidate and build on their success. Across our three office locations, I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to enhance our work as we approach the firm’s centenary and beyond.”

Stephen added: “Sustainability, decarbonisation, energy, and increasing housing supply are key priorities for the business going forward. Given my unique business development experience from my building contracting background, I’m confident I can add value to both new and existing clients’ projects. Whilst I’m still ‘getting my feet under the desk’ and learning the ins and outs of the business, I’ve already had the opportunity to meet a range of clients to better understand their challenges and how we can solve them.”

Alongside the key appointment, Bracewell Stirling has further strengthened its team with strategic architectural and technical appointments across various levels over the past six months. From senior professionals to recent graduates, each brings unique expertise and a shared ambition to support and drive the practice’s growth across current projects, while expanding its footprint into new sectors.

David Keith, senior partner, commented on the expansion of the team, saying: “Bracewell has a strong reputation for delivering award-winning architectural designs across Scotland, and Stephen’s appointment marks an exciting step in the firm’s continued growth. We’ve worked with Stephen over several years in his previous roles and know him to be well-connected and respected in Scotland’s construction sector and is a great fit for our existing team. His background in main contracting will be invaluable as we expand our service offerings. Stephen’s experience in bid management and securing projects will also add significant value for our clients across the business.”

He added: “Since joining the portfolio of Inverness-based investment group GEG Capital earlier this year, many doors have already opened for Bracewell Stirling. As we approach our hundredth year in business, we are also preparing for even further growth. This strategic partnership not only aligns with our commitment to excellence, as evidenced by our recent Excellence in Accessibility & Inclusion award for the Primrose Street Residential Development, but also enhances our ability to expand our networks, while maintaining our commitment to existing clients.”
