In this role, Milne will represent the housebuilder and join 20 other leading industry professionals, where he will help to support and inform the agenda of the trade body.

HFS aims to ensure that Scots have access to the homes they need by shaping policy and challenging decision-makers on behalf of the industry.

A qualified civil engineer, Gary’s career has been forged in construction having acquired over 24 years of technical, practical and managerial experience across a breadth of consultancy, construction and home building sector roles.

His 18 years with Stewart Milne have given him insight across the group’s timber frame, product development, project management and land functions and he has been a member of the Central Scotland Homes board since 2010.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Milne said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as the representative for Stewart Milne Homes to the board of HFS, an organisation which, at its core, shares our commitment to improving the delivery and quality of new homes for people right across Scotland.”

Stewart Milne is a champion of modern methods of construction and the group’s Timber Systems business is the UK’s largest provider of timber frame solutions.

Mr Milne added: “Working alongside leading professionals across our industry I’m looking forward to bringing a passion for design, progressive thinking and place-making to the HFS table.”

HFS chief executive Nicola Barclay said: “We are delighted to welcome Gary to our board at what is a pivotal time for HFS and the sector in general. Having recently set out the direction and prioritisation of objectives for the organisation within our five-year strategy, we are now committed to delivering on these key aims.

“Gary’s knowledge, insight and support, alongside that of his peers, will be hugely beneficial as we seek to unify all those with an interest in increasing housing supply around HFS’ primary purpose: to deliver more homes for Scotland.”
