Supreme site management secures another industry accolade
Ayrshire-based site manager Stuart Gillespie is named amongst the UK’s best, after winning another national award for his work for Mactaggart & Mickel.
Stuart, from Wishaw, was named as runner up in the National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Supreme award in the medium builder category in connection with his work at Mactaggart & Mickel’s Greenan Views development in Doonfoot.
With more than 16,000 site managers competing for the awards, this year’s winners were hand-picked for their excellent standards on site.
“Attention to every detail is at the very heart of Mactaggart & Mickel’s approach and has been for generations,” said Stuart, who has worked for the company for 30 years.
“We’ve invested significantly in our work on-site, and it’s hugely rewarding to know that this is recognised within the industry.”
Stuart began his career at Mactaggart & Mickel as an apprentice joiner, working his way up to become a senior site manager for the company. His latest award success follows four previous wins in the overall ‘UK supreme’ award in the medium builder category, adding to his 10 Scottish Regional Awards.
Now in its 39th year — Pride in the Job celebrates the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each site manager is assessed across 37 areas, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and quality controls.
Peter Shepherd, homes board chair at Mactaggart & Mickel, said: “We’re very proud of Stuart. His commitment, dedication and ability have raised the bar. Stuart is a shining example to colleagues and the wider industry.
“This award is richly deserved, and I know will be welcomed by all who work with him.”
