A Renfrewshire surveyor is celebrating the completion of her degree with help from her employer Persimmon Homes.

Kirsty Reade, 22, successfully achieved a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Quantity Surveying from Glasgow Caledonian University, balancing her studies with hands-on experience at Persimmon West Scotland.

Kirsty initially began her degree full-time in August 2021 before transitioning to the Graduate Apprenticeship programme when she joined Persimmon. The company supported her by allowing time to attend university, ensuring she could develop both academically and professionally.

As part of her final-year dissertation—‘An evaluation of approaches the housebuilding sector is employing to reduce defects in the private Scottish housing market’—she was able to gain valuable insights from Persimmon’s leadership, with managing director Chris Logan contributing to her research through a key interview.

Now, with her degree complete, Kirsty has been promoted from trainee quantity surveyor to assistant quantity surveyor, marking the next step in her career with Persimmon.

Kirsty Reade said: “Balancing university and work has been challenging, but Persimmon’s support has made it possible.

“The experience I’ve gained on live projects has been invaluable, and I’m excited to continue growing my career with the company.”

Chris Logan, managing director at Persimmon West Scotland, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Kirsty’s achievement. Supporting apprentices and graduates is a core part of what we do, and it’s fantastic to see her progress into a key role within the business.

“We look forward to seeing Kirsty continue to thrive at Persimmon.”
