Taylor Wimpey acquires land for approved Winchburgh development
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has confirmed the land for its development of private and affordable homes in Winchburgh has been acquired following this month’s confirmation of detailed planning permission from West Lothian Council.
Located off Duntarvie Castle Road, this land will deliver 101 new homes, and forms part of phase 2 of the wider Winchburgh masterplan that when complete will deliver at least 3,800 new homes, improved transport links, employment opportunities, and state-of-the-art schools.
This impressive masterplan will also provide stunning new outdoor spaces that will include a new canal marina, the creation of Auldcathie District Park, as well as a new motorway junction.
Auldcathie View will provide 46 three and four-bedroom private homes, as well as 55 affordable homes in a mix of two-bedroom cottage flats and three-bedroom terraced homes together with the associated infrastructure such as roads, parking and open space that is required for a development of this scale.
These new homes will also enjoy an idyllic setting directly adjoining the new Auldcathie District Park. This location is ideally situated to appeal to a wide range of buyers within the overall masterplan vision for Winchburgh, offering the perfect balance of quiet rural life with the convenience of Edinburgh close by.
Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are delighted that our Approval of Matters Specified by Conditions for land off Duntarvie Castle Road in Winchburgh was approved by West Lothian Council last week. Now that we have acquired this land, we are looking forward to playing our part in the delivery of the Winchburgh masterplan.
“As well as an impressive range of new private and affordable homes, Auldcathie View will provide a range of economic benefits for the local Winchburgh area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”
John Hamilton, chief executive, Winchburgh Developments Ltd, said: “We look forward to welcoming Taylor Wimpey to Winchburgh later this year as the development enters a very exciting stage. With the first phase of the 85-acre Auldcathie District Park about to open and the marina basin complete, as well as the schools on target for 2023, it is an exciting time in Winchburgh for all involved. With so much to offer homebuyers we have seen excellent demand for new homes in Winchburgh, and as the development continues to progress, we are sure this demand will only continue to increase.”
