Taylor Wimpey hails award-winning site managers
A site manager at Taylor Wimpey’s East Renfrewshire development has won a top award for quality house building.
Organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the prestigious Pride in the Job Awards 2024 crowned David McClure of Taylor Wimpey West Scotland a Regional Award winner for his work at Castle Gate in Maidenhill in the Large builder category at The Hilton in Glasgow on 4 October 2024.
David’s success at this year’s event also included a top-ten Seal of Excellence Award, and his colleague Stuart Gillespie also picked up a top-ten place for his work at Taylor Wimpey’s Oakwood View development in Hamilton.
Success at last week’s event topped off a record ten individual Pride in the Job awards for Taylor Wimpey’s site managers in Scotland in this year’s competition.
Now in its 44th year, Pride in the Job has become the benchmark for exceptional site managers. Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
Pride in the Job has five categories: small, medium and large builders, multi-storey for projects up to seven storeys, and high-rise for projects more than seven.
Brian Henderson, production director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “Achieving and maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer service is very important to our business, and we are delighted and very proud that David McClure’s exemplary record of years of quality and consistency has been recognised by the NHBC in these prestigious awards this year.
“David’s success reflects our drive to deliver the highest quality, service and commitment to our customers, and winning the top Regional Award assures homebuyers that the homes at Castle Gate continue to be of the highest quality. We’re equally delighted that Stuart Gillespie has continued his award-winning standards since he joined our team earlier this year with a top ten Seal of Excellence Award. The event was also a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of all ten of Taylor Wimpey’s site managers in Scotland who achieved Quality Awards earlier this year, including a record seven in West Scotland alone.”
David McClure, site manager at Castle Gate and this year’s NHBC Large Category Regional Award winner in Scotland, added: “Winning this award is a huge honour and something I’ve been striving towards for many years. Along with my team at Castle Gate in Maidenhill, I am passionate about delivering homes of the highest quality, and I’m delighted that the NHBC has acknowledged our consistent efforts. I’m looking forward to the next round of the competition when the regional winners will be judged in the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards.”
Steve Wood, CEO at NHBC, congratulated the winners: “For more than four decades, Pride in the Job has underpinned NHBC’s purpose of raising standards in house building. The
competition recognises the UK’s top site managers, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.
“Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s winning site manager, David McClure, demonstrated his dedication, passion and leadership to ensure new homes are delivered to exacting construction quality standards.
“While house building is a team effort, we believe the greatest influence on the quality of a finished home is the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their team.
Congratulations to all the winners.”
A series of regional events are taking place throughout the UK to announce the Regional and Seal of Excellence Award winners and celebrate the achievements of the Quality Award recipients.
The Regional Award winners will now compete for the ultimate prize in house building, the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards, which will be unveiled at a gala ceremony in London in January 2025.
