Taylor Wimpey land acquisition allows work to start on 102 homes in Macmerry
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has confirmed that land has been acquired and that construction for a development of 102 new homes at its Weldon Grange development on land to the west of Greendykes Road in Macmerry will start within the next few weeks.
Weldon Grange will deliver a choice of two, three, and four-bedroom homes to provide a range of options for first-time buyers and growing families.
The development will also include a provision of 25% affordable homes, as well as substantial public open space, a play area and landscaping.
Weldon Grange incorporates a design that aims to create a sense of place and maximises the latest Scottish Government Planning Policy for ‘Designing Places’ where it will aim to integrate with the local Macmerry area and its special character.
The development will also make significant contributions towards providing additional education capacity in the village, as well as local transport improvements, which have been secured by a Section 75 legal agreement with East Lothian Council.
This development will complement Taylor Wimpey’s nearby Letham Mains development in Haddington, the final stages of its Almond Park development in Musselburgh, and its latest development of 69 new homes that are coming soon at St Clements Wells in Wallyford.
It also supports Taylor Wimpey’s current and future land interests in Dunbar signalling continued and significant investment in East Lothian and the surrounding area by the company.
Pauline Mills, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are so pleased to have acquired the land at Greendykes Road and to now be gearing up our operation to start construction of our first development in Macmerry which cements our commitment to the wider East Lothian area.
“Weldon Grange will not only provide residents from around the local area with a wide selection of homes, it offers great commutable routes to Edinburgh and the wider area. As one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, we are committed to building more than homes and making sure that we add social, economic and environmental value to the wider communities that we operate in.”
