Taylor Wimpey lodges detailed application to return to Bilston

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has made an application for approval of details relating to its Planning Permission in Principle to Midlothian Council to provide a further 214 new homes off Corby Craig Terrace and Reeforts Avenue in Bilston, of which 25% will be affordable.

The submission sets out Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s detailed proposals for housing, landscaping, and materials for the development. The proposals include a mix of two, three, four, and five-bedroom homes to appeal to a wide range of potential buyers.

The affordable homes will provide a range of one, two, and three-bedroom homes, proposed for social rent. This development will also feature a new range of homes the housebuilder plans to build in Scotland.

Enjoying a semi-rural feel with the convenience of Straiton Retail Park nearby and helpful transport links into Edinburgh and Pentland Gardens will complement Taylor Wimpey’s previous developments in Bilston.

Pauline Mills, technical director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We are delighted to confirm that we have made an application for Approval of Matters Specified by Conditions relating to our Planning Permission in Principle for the development of land off Corby Craig Road in Bilston. This planning application represents our significant and continued investment in the local Midlothian area, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority to progress with this development.

“Our proposed development, Bilston, will see us return to the local area with our range of high-quality homes. It will also take an industry-leading approach to biodiversity with the introduction of bug hotels, bird and bat boxes, bee-friendly planting, and high-quality landscaping throughout. In addition, each new home will also include solar PV panels to help reduce the overall carbon footprint of the development.

“Along with an impressive range of new homes, our proposed development will also provide a range of economic benefits for the local Bilston and wider Midlothian area. This includes supporting new jobs for every year of construction and attracting new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.
