Taylor Wimpey makes detailed planning application for East Kilbride development
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has submitted an Approval of Matters specified in Conditions (MSC) application to South Lanarkshire Council for the provision of 228 private new homes through the development of land off Jackton Road, on the western edge of East Kilbride, which forms part of the East Kilbride Community Growth Area (EKCGA).
About this development:
- Authority:South Lanarkshire
- Type:Residential
- Applications:
- Team:Taylor Wimpey (developer)
Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) has already been secured for this development, and Taylor Wimpey’s MSC planning application sets out its detailed proposals for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.
The proposals include a mix of two and three-bedroom terrace and semi-detached, as well as three and four-bedroom detached homes to ultimately appeal to a wide range of potential buyers.
The development has also been designed to create a sense of place and maximises the latest Scottish Government Planning Policy for Designing Streets.
This development will also benefit from the delivery of key infrastructure as part of the masterplan vision for the area such as new roads, which are already under construction, as well as a new primary school and retail.
New footpaths will connect to the existing local footpath network and where possible existing trees, hedges and vegetation along Jackton Road will be retained. New landscaping proposed to the north of the development aims to maximise views to the existing countryside.
Colin Blair, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to confirm that we have made our MSC application for the development of land off Jackton Road in East Kilbride. This proposed development represents a significant and continued investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland
”Our proposed development to deliver 228 new homes at Jackton forms a key part of the East Kilbride Community Growth Area, which was granted Planning Permission in Principle in October 2019, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority in order to progress this development.
“As well playing our part in the delivery of new homes within the EKCGA and its masterplan, our development would provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”
