Taylor Wimpey makes detailed planning application for Hamilton development
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has submitted an Approval of Matters specified in Conditions (AMSC) application to South Lanarkshire Council for the provision of 206 private new homes through the development of land off Meikle Earnock Road, in Hamilton.
This proposed development forms part of the wider masterplan for the Brackenhill Farm area and recognised as part of the Hamilton Community Growth area.
Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) has already been secured for this development, and Taylor Wimpey’s AMSC planning application sets out its detailed proposals for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.
The proposals include a mix of two and three-bedroom terrace and semi-detached, as well as four and five-bedroom detached homes to ultimately appeal to a wide range of potential buyers.
The design of the development follows the agreed design principles already set out in the masterplan which will see upgrades to Meikle Earnock Road, including continuation of the bus route and a new footpath network allowing access to the adjacent woodland and open space .
This development will also benefit from the delivery of key infrastructure as part of the masterplan vision for the area such as further upgrades to Meikle Earnock Road, and there are play areas provided within other parcels of the masterplan development.
New footpaths will connect to the existing local footpath network and they will also provide access to the wider open space of the overall development.
Colin Blair, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to confirm that we have made our AMSC application for the development of land off Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton. This proposed development represents a significant and continued investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and a return to Hamilton for our business.
”Our proposed development to deliver 206 new homes forms a key part of the Brackenhill Farm area masterplan, which was granted Planning Permission in Principle in May 2017, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority in order to progress this development.
“As well playing our part in the delivery of new homes within the Brackenhill Farm masterplan, our development would provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”
