Taylor Wimpey receives approval for 44-home Barrhead development

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has received planning permission from East Renfrewshire Council to construct 44 four- and five-bedroom detached homes in Barrhead.

The development, named Arthurlie Gate, is part of the Barrhead South Masterplan, which includes a new railway station, transport upgrades, and improvements to Dams to Darnley Country Park. The project will also contribute to the council’s goal of providing 8.5% entry-level homes.

Martin Findlay, technical director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are very pleased to have secured planning consent from East Renfrewshire Council, which allows us to deliver a wider choice of new homes for customers in Barrhead.

“This decision supports the redesign of the final phase of our existing Duncarnock development and is in response to customer demand for our range of larger detached homes.

“Arthurlie Gate will offer an impressive choice of four and five bedroom detached homes from our Caledonian range, and it will complement our existing choice of homes at our neighbouring Duncarnock development in Barrhead.”

He continued: “Subject to all technical consents being in place, we expect to be able to commence the programme of infrastructure in the next few months, with our intention to launch the first new homes for sale at Arthurlie Gate later this year.

“As well as the provision of substantial community benefits, this marks a significant step in bringing this parcel of the Barrhead South masterplan forward and demonstrates our commitment to continue to invest in the local area.”
