Taylor Wimpey secures planning permission for Maidenhill development
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has secured planning permission from East Renfrewshire Council for the provision of 44 new four and five bedroom detached homes near Newton Mearns.
The firm will develop land off Ayr Road for the project which falls within the wider Maidenhill masterplan development.
The six acre site is identified for housing in the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan, and it forms part of the approved detailed planning permission currently in place for the wider Maidenhill masterplan vision.
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland said Westfield Gate represents a significant and continued investment in the local area.
Stephen Andrew, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, added: “Taylor Wimpey is delighted to confirm that we have secured planning consent for this parcel of land off Ayr Road within the wider Maidenhill masterplan. Our planning consent represents a key milestone as work continues to turn the masterplan vision of a new community into reality.
“As well as creating a significant residential development of new homes, this parcel of development will also contribute to a range of wider community benefits through a Section 75 Agreement with East Renfrewshire Council, which will include contributions towards education.
“Our Westfield Gate development will also contribute to a range of economic benefits for the local Maidenhill and Newton Mearns area, which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.
“We’re looking forward to work starting on our Caledonian range of new homes and becoming even more involved in the local community, as Maidenhill progresses. Our expectation is that construction will start at Westfield Gate within the next few weeks, and that our first new homes will be launched for sale later in the summer.”
