Swimming sensation Dan Wallace made a splash in Cupar and Crieff recently on a special visit to local schools.

The visit, which was arranged by homebuilder Persimmon as part of its partnership with Team GB, saw Dan make an appearance at Castlehill Primary and Bell Baxter High School in Cupar as well as Crieff Primary School.

Dan told the pupils about his journey to winning medals for Scotland and Great Britain on the world stage before answering a variety of questions from students and staff.

Multiple medal-winner Dan took home gold in the 400m medley at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, silver at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and was crowned World Champion in 2015 in Kazan, Russia.

Dan Wallace said: “I really enjoyed my visits to Cupar and Crieff, and it was great to get such a warm welcome from staff and pupils at the local schools.

“Encouraging young people to get active and take up a sport is really important and through the partnership with Persimmon, we’re aiming to help inspire our next generation of medal-winners.”

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “One of the benefits of Persimmon’s partnership with Team GB is it gives us the opportunity to arrange these visits and give local pupils a unique chance to hear from someone who has reached the very top in their sport.

“I’m sure Dan’s visits had a positive impact on local pupils and hopefully it can inspire them to achieve their own successes in the future.”
