The JR Group sets steep charity challenge

Staff from construction firm The JR Group have set themselves the challenge of scaling Ben Arthur in Arrochar, best known as The Cobbler, in aid of The Beatson Cancer Charity.

Ten members of the team will take part in the hike, tackling the 884 metres-tall mountain which is located near Loch Long in Argyll and Bute.

The initial goal of raising £1,000 has already been surpassed so the team are now aiming for a £2,000 milestone via their JustGiving page.

Gayle O’Hear, construction administration manager of The JR Group, said: “We have lots of members of staff who enjoy walking and hiking in our spare time so we decided to come together to turn our hobby into an opportunity to raise funds for charity.

“We have dubbed our team The JR Ramblers and have previously taken part in the Kiltwalk the last few years to raise funds for several charities, so this year we were looking to challenge ourselves even more. We’re very proud to help support this incredible local charity and the wonderful work they do.

“I’d would like to thank all the team, colleagues, family, friends, suppliers, sub-contractors and partners for their incredibly generous donations already. I’d also like to extend thanks to Suresafe for the kind t-shirt donations for our team.

“Surpassing our original goal is an incredible feat and is really spurring us on to make it to the top of The Cobbler.”
