Shona will be presenting the Legal Perspective on BIM at the BIM Convention on Thursday 22 October 2015 at the Glasgow City Hotel, Cambridge Street, Glasgow, which is being attended by industry leaders representing all sections of the Scottish Construction industry.

Shona’s presentation will cover the current position in relation to contractual provision for BIM in standard form construction contracts and appointments and the need for interaction of these with BIM Protocols. She will also consider the new roles inherent in BIM contracts namely that of Information Manager/BIM Co-ordinator.

The question arises of whether what is in place currently is sufficient and, if not, what is missing from current contractual arrangements? The approach of insurers is a key aspect to BIM and I will look at the current position in the UK market in relation to their approach. Finally, BIM and soft landings are topics which are very much linked and some consideration will be given to the position in relation to soft landings.

Paul McDevitt, of The BIM Convention organisers, Business Fix, added “We are absolutely delighted that Shona has agreed to present at the Convention and to provide delegates a clearer understanding of the legal ramifications that round the introduction of BIM.
