Thirty-eight affordable homes to be built in new Turriff housing development

Plans for a mix of private and affordable homes in Turriff submitted by Springfield Properties, have been approved by Aberdeenshire Council.

Springfield has been given the green light to deliver 60 high quality, energy efficient homes, including 38 much needed affordable homes accessed via Meadowbank Road.

Around 40% of the 11 hectare site, allocated for housing within the local development plan set by Aberdeenshire Council, will remain open green space with walking, cycle and road links connecting to the wider area.

With energy efficiency in mind, the two, three and four-bedroom homes will be built with high quality insulation and innovative heating technology that doesn’t require gas, reducing the impact on the environment and helping to keep running costs low for the residents.

Springfield managing director, Dave Main, said: “We are really pleased our plans to bring new, high quality and energy efficient housing across multiple tenures has been approved by Aberdeenshire Council.

“The planning application for homes in this area has been through a thorough process that’s taken a number of years, but we are pleased to have worked closely with the Council to have reached this stage.

“In the midst of a national housing crisis, there is a clear need to deliver homes for people that need them. Our, now approved, designs include a range of homes from cottage flats and apartments, homes for growing families and even, bungalows – a house style that we know is typically highly sought after.

“With planning now in place, we will make arrangements to start work on site.”
