Three sites shortlisted for new Monklands hospital
NHS Lanarkshire has launched a process of further public and staff engagement regarding the three potential alternative sites for a new University Hospital Monklands.
The engagement programme gives the community the chance to provide feedback on the shortlist of sites for the hospital – Gartcosh, Glenmavis and Wester Moffat.
A site evaluation process will then be undertaken on March 10 through a formal scoring event involving a representative group of members of the public and NHS staff.
The current facility is an ageing hospital and most of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure has exceeded its life expectancy.
NHS Lanarkshire said recurring failures not only have ongoing and increasing financial implications but also have an impact on the delivery of clinical services.
A new website has been launched to inform the public and stakeholders.
Project director Graeme Reid said: “We’re publishing a set of detailed information about each of the three shortlisted sites to ensure the public and our staff have as much information as possible to help them to get involved.
“Over the coming days, we will publish further information, covering site history, site conditions, site groundwork/remediation costs, road infrastructure costs and construction costs.”
