Award-winning architecture and interior design firm, TINTO Architecture, has announced a merger with Deeside Architects Studio to meet growing client demand and deliver on larger-scale projects.

The move comes following an exceptional period of growth for TINTO.

The merging of the two businesses for an undisclosed sum, will see principal of Deeside Architects Studio, Catriona Tanner, step into the role of design director of TINTO, enhancing the design capabilities on offer and applying her extensive experience to projects of all sizes.

Catriona has worked with many prestigious architecture firms across the globe, including Fosters and Partners in London, Holford Associates in Dubai, and RMJM Scotland in Edinburgh.

In addition, Stephen Martin will be promoted from his role as associate at TINTO to technical director, enabling him to bring his extensive knowledge and capability to support the design stages and site delivery of project offerings.

Recent project wins in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Kingston Upon Thames, Birmingham and Norwich continue to see the firm expand across the UK with a focus on expanding the offering geographically to support growth.

Richard Tinto, managing director at TINTO Architecture, said: “I am delighted to welcome Catriona on board. Her breadth of larger practice experience and outstanding design capabilities will help us deliver larger scale projects for our clients.

“We will be able to ensure that her client base is well looked after whilst we can confidently increase our capability and capacity on larger projects where Catriona has significant experience being an Associate and Project Leader at Foster and Partners team for several years.

“This move also sees our current Design and Delivery Lead Richard Slater free to follow his own passions, establishing himself as a sole practitioner. I’m delighted for Richard and excited by the prospect of being able to refer work to him knowing his ability to create great buildings.”

Catriona Tanner added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to take my design-led studio to new levels. As I have been growing the practice, it felt right to take the leap with Richard and the team and their range and depth of complimentary experience and skills.”

This deal brings the headcount of the Tinto Architecture team to 12, with an expectation it will grow to 15 by the end of 2023.

From 22nd of May, Deeside Architects will begin trading as Tinto Architecture Ltd.
