Trade body maps out route to professional structural waterproofing

National trade body the Property Care Association (PCA) has produced a new video showcasing the importance of best practice in the specialised structural waterproofing industry.

The short film guides viewers through the training and qualifications which set out professionals in the sector able to support architects, specifiers and property owners in this complex, highly-skilled aspect of construction.

Providing a route for training and ongoing professional development is a key remit of the PCA - to drive forward standards and best practice in the specialised structural waterproofing industry.

James Berry, PCA technical manager, said: “The value of both PCA training and qualifications is highly regarded – and renowned for raising standards and technical competency across the structural waterproofing industry.

“The video has been produced to give background information on the training and professional development we offer.”

At the core of the PCA’s programme is the surveyor in structural waterproofing training.

This intensive theoretical training course focuses on different aspects of structural waterproofing including BS8102, and the different types of waterproofing including Types A, B and C.

It is designed for those that have already got existing experience in the field and can also be used as a foundation to go on to take the Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW) industry-leading qualification.

As well as discussing training, the video also explores some of the other initiatives from the PCA to support the structural waterproofing sector.

These include a register of Waterproofing Design Specialists who have signed up to annual CPD and are able to provide standalone design services, as well as free access to a series of best practice guides covering Type A, Type B and Type C systems.

Information is also included regarding the association’s annual international structural waterproofing conference, designed to help professionals – both members and non-members alike – to stay up to date with the latest industry developments.

This latest PCA structural waterproofing video film joins a video guide produced last year, which addresses the main factors surrounding successful structural waterproofing projects – providing an overview of the ten main areas which should be considered to achieve successful structural waterproofing projects.
