The trio of Construction Management students originally joined Clark Contracts to complete six-month work placements as part of their course at university and as a result of their performance during this period, were offered permanent contracts with the opportunity to complete their studies while working part time.

The students have now completed their university course and will work full time with the company to further develop their careers.

Gordon Cunningham, managing director Clark Contracts, said: “We look forward to continuing to support our graduates as they progress through their careers and potentially enrol in our bespoke masters course at Glasgow Caledonian University. They have worked very hard with us over the last couple of years studying whilst gaining hands on experience so it is fantastic for them to reach this goal.”

Clark Contracts offers work experience placements to University students every year with 11 new students from Glasgow Caledonian University and Edinburgh Napier University having joined the company in May 2019.

More than 20% of employees are currently studying towards formal qualifications through its award-winning Academy, with the company investing £500k in training in 2018. Within this investment was a spend of £11,300 on mental health training for mental health first aiders, mental health champions and mental health awareness sessions for staff across the company and the addition of a new learning and development manager.

Clark Contracts Academy was awarded the Construction News ‘Training Excellence’ award at the UK wide awards in 2017 and has been shortlisted for the same award again in 2019.
