TÜV SÜD awarded ISO 19650 accreditation
TÜV SÜD UK has become one of the first MEP consultancies in the UK to be awarded the ISO 19650 accreditation for its Building Information Modelling (BIM) service.
The new ISO 19650 standard represents the latest international industry best practice for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using BIM. It contains all the principles and high-level requirements for BIM Level 2, which is mandated by the UK Government for construction projects over £50 million.
Paul Hargreaves, group BIM manager at TÜV SÜD, said: “BIM has revolutionised the construction industry as issues can be identified and resolved before construction begins at site level. This mitigates risks associated with time and cost due to waste materials and abortive time on site, whilst delivering environmentally sustainable buildings.
“TÜV SÜD’s ISO 19650 accreditation will reassure our clients that we have the necessary processes and procedures in place to deliver BIM Level 2 projects efficiently and without complications or unexpected costs. It is substantive proof that our BIM service is delivered by highly competent staff using robust processes that optimise project delivery. Our clients can be assured that everything we do has been well defined and tested, ultimately resulting in a quality end product.”
One of the few MEP consultancies in the UK to be BSI BIM Level 2 certified for ISO 19650, TÜV SÜD’s BIM service is delivered by more than 80 engineers across seven UK regional offices, including Glasgow and Aberdeen.
