Twelve Days of Spifox videos to boost property and construction charity’s annual fundraising
A unique video version of the Twelve Days of Christmas has been created by Scottish property and construction charity Spifox after COVID-19 restrictions called time on its annual major fundraising event.
‘The Twelve Days of Spifox’ will consist of 12 short videos featuring representatives from 12 charities that have been helped by Spifox (the Scottish Property Industry Festival of Christmas) in recent years. The videos will be released over the 12 working days, leading up to 18th December, when Spifox usually holds its annual Edinburgh Carol Concert and Lunch for over 1600 guests.
Tom Cromar, chairman of the charity, said: “Since the outbreak of COVID-19 we haven’t been able to hold our two main fundraising events, so we have decided instead to host ‘The Twelve Days of Spifox’ with videos showing how our fundraising has helped charities, while also encouraging people to support our work next year by taking part in an online auction or purchasing specially commissioned pin badges.
“Spifox has amazing support in the Scottish real estate and construction industries, as we perfectly align networking and fundraising. This year, we are delighted to report that from monies previously raised we have supported 20 charities across the length and breadth of Scotland and distributed nearly £275,000. We really hope that we can continue our great work in 2021.”
In over 37 years since the first Carol Concert and lunch, the supporters of Spifox have raised well over £5 million. All monies have been distributed to very worthy children and young adults’ charities throughout Scotland.
The videos will feature the voice of young singer Ella Chambers, and master of ceremonies will be former Scotland rugby captain Andy Nicol, who regularly hosts Spifox events. Comedian Fred MacAulay will be telling funny stories and there will also be creative bagpipe playing from the PIPS (Pipers in Property Scotland).
The Scottish charities appearing on video telling their stories about what the funding provided by Spifox has meant to them are: Children 1st; Sepsis Research; The Yard; CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland); Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice; Action for Children; Tweed Togs; Kilpatrick School; Team Jak; Scottish Autism; FABB Scotland and North Edinburgh Arts.
The first of the 12 videos will be posted on the Spifox website and social media on December 3, with new videos being posted every day thereafter until the final video on December 18.
