The current Braeview Academy and Craigie High will become empty when pupils and staff move to Greenfield Academy in August this year.  

The new school is part of the £100 million Drumgeith Campus, which is the largest investment in education, sport and community provision in the city and will deliver state-of-the-art facilities and services to the area.  

Dundee City Council’s Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee considered a report at a meeting last week asking for approval to start the procurement process for the demolitions of Braeview and Craigie.  

Councillors will hear that once formal tenders have been received, any contracts over the value of £500,000 will be reported back committee for approval.  

Committee convener Councillor Steven Rome said: “These demolitions would be a sign to everyone that new developments and investment are taking place for the future.  

“Once council buildings are vacated, we also have a duty to ensure public safety, so demolitions are also very important from that aspect.”
