Underlying profits fall at J Smart

Scottish building contractor J Smart & Co has reported underlying profit before tax for the year ended 31 July of £3.4 million.
The figure, which includes £613,000 profit from property sales, is down from last year’s figure of £3.6m including £186,000 profit from property sales.
Revenue for the year fell to £22.86m, compared to £29m a last time.
The firm pointed to a “highly competitive tender market” and a lack of private housing sales this year.
