Developer West Craigs Limited has submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment request to the City of Edinburgh Council that was validated by the local authority this week.
Titled West Craigs North, the development aims to provide between 300-500 new homes, including affordable housing, with potential for ancillary small-scale commercial use at Glasgow Road in Gogar.
The development will be the latest build on the West Craig Masterplan.
Upon completion, there will be at least 1,700 new homes, a new primary school, nursery, health centre, café, two five-acre public parks and woodland.
A spokesperson for the developer said: “The development proposals will provide up to 500 new residential units, a small commercial site of 1.5 acres in size and with associated infrastructure and landscape works which will increase the population in the local area.
“Residents will be well served by existing medical practices, education, community facilities, public transport, green space, and active travel routes in the west of Edinburgh via developments such as Maybury, Cammo, Edinburgh Park, The Gyle and IBG.”
