Wedding bells ring for Garrion Tower restoration
The Grade B-listed Garrion Tower near Wishaw is to be converted into a hotel, restaurant and wedding venue after Block Architects achieved both listed building consent and full planning permission for the ‘at-risk’ building.
About this development:
- Authority:North Lanarkshire
- Type:Commercial, Leisure
- Applications:
- Team:Block Architects (architect)
The former summer home to the bishops of Glasgow is to be brought back to life via a restoration, refurbishment and extension led by the Hamilton practice.
Forming part of the plans is a champagne bar overlooking the Clyde, with access to a ‘green roof’ rooftop terrace as well as an intimate wedding hall deep within the tower and a private pavilion within the grounds.
Block Architects said the material palette for the extensions is reflective of both Garrion Tower and the landscape within which it sits.
