Wernick Group officially opens new Dundee hire depot

Wernick Group has opened its new hire depot in Dundee following a £4 million investment in the facility which will operate as a central hub for supporting client needs across Scotland.

The Dundee depot marks a significant part of the company’s broader £20m commitment to Scotland in recent years. Looking ahead, Wernick is set to invest an additional £1.5m in 2025 to establish a new facility in Coatbridge for its generator company, Wernick Power Solutions. Additionally, more than £2.5m will be allocated for the development of a new depot in Inverness to replace the existing facility in Nairn.

Once completed, all five of Wernick’s depots in Scotland will be contemporary premises, underscoring the confidence and trust placed in the Scottish team by company leaders David and Jonathan Wernick.

The decision to relocate and enhance the Dundee depot reflects the company’s continued growth and evolving operational requirements. The former site was no longer adequate to meet the needs of both customers and staff. The new facility therefore offers a fully paved yard, a cutting-edge workshop and a modern, efficient office space that accommodates both administrative and operations teams.

Prioritising employee well-being, the facility also includes amenities such as air conditioning, showers, and secure bike storage. The new Dundee depot boasts an EPC rating of B, energy-efficient LED lighting with PIR sensors and EV chargers, all contributing to Wernick’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2040.

Chris Law, Member of Parliament for Dundee Central, attended the opening ceremony and said: “I am delighted to join Wernick for the opening of their new and improved depot in my constituency of Dundee Central. This investment of over £4m is a sign of confidence in our city, bringing increased benefits and more jobs not just to our local communities but to the wider Dundee and Tayside area. Companies like Wernick are important employers in our city, and I am sure they will continue to go from strength to strength over the coming months and years.”

David Wernick, chairman of the Wernick Group, added: “I am delighted at the success that the team in Scotland have enjoyed over the last few years under the overall guidance of our regional director, Ricky Wedlock. In particular, the financial performance of our Dundee depot, under its depot manager Gary Stewart, has given us the confidence to invest over £4m in this new facility. This provides our staff with state-of-the-art facilities and is a well-earned reward for the efforts put in by all concerned.”
