Wheatley to showcase Leswalt development plans

Wheatley Homes South is hosting an information event next week on its plans to build 56 homes in Leswalt.

The event on Wednesday 12 February will give residents the chance to hear more about the plans and speak with staff and external partners about the development.

Wheatley’s plans will see 44 two-storey houses and 12 bungalows built, which will be a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

The new energy efficient homes will be designed with an energy rating of A. Photovoltaic panels, which will convert sunlight to energy, will also be installed on the roofs.

The new-build development in Leswalt forms part of wider regeneration plans from Wheatley Homes South, part of Wheatley Group, which will see hundreds of much needed new homes built at various sites across the region.

Alex Lamb, managing director of Wheatley Homes South, said: “It’s important to keep the community updated at every stage of the process and this event is an opportunity for people to find out more about the plans.

“In Stranraer, across Dumfries and Galloway and Scotland-wide there is a high demand for housing and our ambitious new-build plans will go a long way to meeting that.

“The event in February is an opportunity for the existing community, and for those interested in living in the area, to meet staff and find out more about the development. We hope to see as many people as possible attend, so they can hear more about our vision for the area.”

It was previously revealed the local economy in Dumfries and Galloway had been boosted by more than £40 million thanks to the massive investment programme by Wheatley Homes South since 2019.

Wheatley Group, which owns and manages over 93,700 homes including Wheatley Homes South, was named last year as the UK’s biggest builder of social housing over the past decade.

The event will be held at Leswalt Memorial Hall on 12 February between 4pm and 7pm.
