Winchburgh bags major Sainsbury’s development
Shoppers around the new centre of Winchburgh, one of Scotland’s biggest community development projects, are set to benefit from a new Sainsbury’s with the 12,000-square-foot store set to open by Spring 2024.
The store is being designed to be a best ‘in neighbourhood’ one-stop shop that will offer a bespoke range of products that will enable customers to complete a weekly shop in Winchburgh without having to travel further afield.
Along with over 100 dedicated parking spaces, the store will also include an in-store Argos Click & Collect service, helping to bring together the much-loved brands of Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat and Tu clothing under one roof and providing even more convenience and shopping choice for local people.
Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s property director, said: “Our Neighbourhood Hub stores are designed to provide the best possible offer for the communities they serve, with a product range that gives customers access to everything they need for a weekly shop. This deal will allow us to serve the growing community of Winchburgh and build on the success of our existing Sainsbury’s Local in the village.
“We carefully design and fit out our stores to suit the needs of the needs of local customers, and a new store for Winchburgh will help local residents to do more of their shopping closer to home.”
John Hamilton, chief executive, Winchburgh Developments Ltd, added: “It is testament to the standard of development going on at Winchburgh that we have been able to attract Sainsbury’s with this larger store following on from the success of the Sainsburys Local, which opened in 2018. It’s a supermarket that everyone associates with an excellent range of quality products and value for money. We’re really looking forward to welcoming them to the new site and seeing the larger store take shape with their great range of produce.”
