The transformation of the former Greenock Academy site in Inverclyde is taking shape with the first of 30 new homes for sale now under construction.

Located in the west end of Greenock, ‘The Scholars’, a name chosen as an ode to the school’s heritage, was formally brought to the market by CCG Homes in February after having commenced works on-site last winter.

Comprising a range of three and four-bedroom properties, the first homes present along Madeira Street and Newark Street, reinvigorating a site that’s been derelict since the school’s demolition in 2015.

CCG Homes managing director Calum Murray said: “Our site team has done an excellent job so far. It is remarkable to see the difference in such a short space of time and with the erection of the new terraces, particularly those along Newark Street, you can already see what we are trying to achieve in creating a new, contemporary housing development.

“It’s exciting and the extent of our activities during the summer will see continued change. A new marketing suite based on Madeira Street will now allow us to engage directly with interested buyers in person for the first time whilst our brand-new show home will be open for viewings within the coming months.”

The Scholars is made up of eight terraced housing blocks with three house types to choose from including a 2.5-storey, three-bedroom terraced home –The ‘Orin’. There are also two configurations of a 3-storey, four-bedroom terraced villa – ‘Muir’ and ‘Mara’.

Designer kitchens with integrated appliances, private gardens and parking with full EV charging capability are amongst the wide range of features available to buyers, with advanced energy performance offering additional benefits.

Calum Murray explained: “Be it their size or the integrated features, CCG Homes proudly offer properties to a leading standard of specification. We have partnered with luxury brands and have carefully considered the finer details throughout the home but, undeniably, our USP is in the building’s performance.

“Thanks to advanced construction methods, our homes are naturally thermally efficient with minimised heat loss achieved as a result.

“In a time of inflated energy prices, an EPC ‘A’ rating is a distinct benefit, whilst the integration of solar PV panels will help to lower costs from in-use energy consumption.”

CCG Homes anticipates the first properties will be available for occupation at The Scholars in late autumn with full completion in early 2025.
