Work commences on Uddingston housing development
Glasgow based construction company and manufacturing specialist CCG has commenced building 20 new residential properties at Sixth Street in Uddingston.
The development, in partnership with Clyde Valley Housing Association, will include 14 terraced houses and one block of 6 flats.
CCG is one of Scotland’s largest privately owned construction companies employing 600 staff and is committed to developing the sectors skills recently starting 21 new apprentices taking the company’s total to 61.
The company is focused on improving the efficiency of construction and manufacturing highlighted by their £10 million investment in an Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM) facility which will be utilised for this development. Using OSM significantly reduces build time and minimises waste and has been used in a range of projects including in the construction of 237 homes for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village.
Calum Murray, director of CCG, said: “We are very proud of our partnership with Clyde Valley Housing Association and this project is a continuation of the productive working relationship going forward.”
Clyde Valley Housing Association’s chair, Campbell Boyd, added: “In these tough economic times we are proud to deliver much-needed, affordable and quality homes. It is testament to the commitment and dedication of the Group and our partner organisations that we continue to increase our housing stock.
“All in all, our aim is to offer a complete package to our tenants, providing them with great homes in a pleasant environment and in which they can take pride and enjoy living.”
The development is due to be completed in summer 2015.
