Work completed on 37 affordable homes in Haddington
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has confirmed the completion and handover of 37 affordable homes and apartments for social rent to East Lothian Council.
Located within Taylor Wimpey’s Letham Mains development, the mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, as well as one and two-bedroom apartments, are now handed over and occupied by East Lothian Council tenants.
A further agreement between the two parties will also see the provision of another 35 affordable homes as part of Taylor Wimpey’s Letham Meadows development, which also forms part of the Letham Mains masterplan.
Phil Cooper, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are pleased to have completed the delivery of 37 much-needed affordable homes for East Lothian Council.
“We are very proud of the contribution these properties make in creating a diverse place to call home as part of the local community at our Letham Mains development.
“Our further agreement to deliver 35 affordable homes as part of our Letham Meadows development underpins our commitment to working with East Lothian Council and other partners to deliver the overall Letham Mains master plan.
“As one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, we are committed to building more than homes and making sure that we add social, economic and environmental value to the wider communities that we operate in.
“The completion of 37 affordable homes at Letham Mains and agreement to provide a further 35 properties form an important part of that commitment being delivered locally in the Haddington area.”
Councillor Andy Forrest, East Lothian Council spokesperson for housing and property maintenance, said: “Letham Mains is a key development site for East Lothian, and it was important to ensure quality homes for social rent by East Lothian Council were included. We have always enjoyed a very positive relationship with Taylor Wimpey and the quality and energy efficiency of the homes is appreciated by tenants.”
