Work completes at University of Stirling’s new transport hub

Work has completed at the site of a new £1.1million transport hub at the University of Stirling.

The civil engineering work was carried out by Robertson – which has its headquarters nearby – and consisted of the formation of the new transport hub together with associated roads, footpaths and car park areas.

Kevin Gallacher, interim managing director of Robertson Civil Engineering, said: “The twelve-week project marks the first time we’ve worked with the University of Stirling on a civil engineering project.

“The transportation hub and associated features will help enhance accessibility for students, staff and visitors travelling to and from the campus grounds and facilities for years to come.”

Buses will be re-routed to the transport hub, which has close access to the Logie Lecture Theatre entrance and Cottrell teaching space, Stirling Court Hotel and the University of Stirling INTO Building.

Peter Kerr, senior associate, projects, at the University of Stirling, said: “The University is delighted to have engaged with Robertson on the transport hub works. The fruition of these works within budget and to a high quality marks the completion of the first phase of the transformation of the centre of the campus.

“This is one of the University’s key ambitions to support the achievement of its strategic aims in learning, teaching and research all designed to significantly enhance the Stirling student experience and to deliver facilities commensurate with the University’s ambitions to be one of the top 25 universities in the UK.”

The transport hub forms part of the University’s £21 million Campus Central project – one of the biggest infrastructure investments since its foundation – with work expected to complete by 2020.
