The 1,000-space parking facility, made possible by a £10m donation from the Wood Foundation, will take around 11 months to build.

As a result of the work the current visitor parking will be closed for the entire period.

The six-story building is part of £150m worth of improvements scheduled for ARI at the Foresterhill site.

A spokeswoman for NHS Grampian said: “We expect work to commence in mid-September, subject to meeting the conditions of planning permission.

“This facility, generously funded by The Wood Foundation, will considerably improve the amount of parking available for patients and visitors.

“The construction will require the closure of the existing visitor car park for approximately 11 months.

“A limited amount of visitor parking will be reallocated into the staff car park – as a result, both staff and visitors will see significant reductions in the amount of spaces available.”

The spokeswoman added that during the construction works, visitors would be asked to avoid taking their cars to ease stress on the limited number of spaces.

She said: “We are asking for their support and patience at this time and would encourage everyone coming to Foresterhill Health Campus to explore the alternatives.”
