Work starts on townhouse development at Juniper Green
Work has commenced on a residential development at 6 Woodhall Drive in the village of Juniper Green on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh-based architectural firm LBA has partnered with the developers Glencairn Properties to design four townhouses offering five-bedroom family living over three storeys with sharp design and spacious open plan spaces the key aspects of the build.
Located on the site of a former disused single-storey pitched roof community hall building, each townhouse has been designed with vertical strips of curtain wall glazing, to both front and rear elevations, which visually separate each of the houses bringing natural light throughout the properties on all three floors.
The townhouses boast excellent environmental credentials with a highly insulated upper flat roof supporting an array of photovoltaic panels all cleverly concealed from view behind the brickwork parapet.
Commenting on the project design, LBA managing director Lynsay Bell, said: “This is a particularly unique development in terms of its design and build. The vision was to create contemporary and desirable family homes hallmarked by the quality of their design.
“We also needed to consider the fact that the surrounding residential properties vary vastly in terms of their design and aesthetic. We strive to take architectural design to new levels and have ensured that Woodhall Drive has its own character that’s progressive and reflective of our design ethos and Glencairn’s vision for the development.”
The project with Glencairn Properties is one in a long line of high end developments for LBA, a company founded in Edinburgh some five years ago. Successful recently completed projects include Well Court Hall in the Dean Village which showcases the firm’s unique design approach.
Glencairn Properties director, Daryl Teague, added: “This is the first development we’ve worked on with LBA and we believe we’re creating something very special and new for urban living spaces. They have interpreted our vision and helped to create the highest quality design-led build for Woodhall Drive.”
