Work to begin on new Perthshire holiday park

Holiday park operator Verdant Leisure is to invest £10 million in a new five-star holiday park following its acquisition of an 80-acre former quarry in Perthshire.

River Tay Leisure Park between Stanley and Luncarty will be Verdant’s second acquisition in Perthshire and its 13th park overall.

The company already has planning permission for nearly 300 holiday homes across the site.

Due to begin in March, the first phase of the development will see 77 pitches created alongside a bar and restaurant on the former Gowrie Quarry.

Chief executive Graham Hodgson said it was a “very exciting” acquisition for Verdant Leisure.

Mr Hodgson said: “Perthshire is a beautiful region. It is easy to understand why it is so popular with our existing customers.

“We are thrilled to be able to develop this former quarry into a five-star holiday park and further support tourism in Perthshire.

“We are sure that River Tay Leisure Park will become a destination of choice in the area.”

The developer, in partnership with Cycling Scotland, will support the creation of a travel path that will pass through River Tay Leisure Park between Stanley and Luncarty.

The new holiday park is due to open next year.
