Work to start on Inverclyde care home

Inverclyde Care HomeA new care home in Inverclyde will shortly begin construction after the project reached financial close.

The £8 million care provision is the latest project to be delivered by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde with its development partner hub West Scotland and main contractor Morgan Sindall.

Located in Greenock, the contemporary healthcare facility will provide Adult and Older Peoples Continuing Care mental health accommodation, in particular a dementia friendly environment. The home has been designed by Archial NORR to offer a safe, calming space for patients, meeting the standards of the Stirling Dementia Centre.

Debbie McNamara, chief executive at hub West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to reach this stage of such an important project with our partners NHS GG&C. The Inverclyde Care Home will provide an outstanding facility to improve care for adults with complex mental health needs.”

Brian Moore, director of Inverclyde HSCP, added: “We are delighted that this project is moving onto the next stage which will see the new building complete by summer 2017.”

The project is the first revenue funded hub West Scotland project to reach this stage following the resolution of the European Accounting issues at the end of last year.

The project is scheduled to complete works in June 2017.
