Summary

D. Stewart Contracts Ltd are a small civils, landscaping and fencing contractor operating in the construction sector in and around central Scotland. We are seeking an experienced groundworker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of groundworks, including excavation, preparation of building foundations, footpaths, car parks installation of drainage and sewer systems, and the construction of kerbs, paving, and concrete slabs. You will also be required to carry out hard surfacing works, including slabbing, monoblocks and other hardscapes. Hours: Mon-Thu 7.30.am. start, 4.30p.m. finish. Fri – 7.30a.m. start, 3.30p.m. finish. Overtime available at enhanced rates.

ROLE: Groundworker
You will be responsible for many aspects of work, planning and execution on site relating to our specific scope of works. Acting in a professional and in a reliable manner you will be working with your team to undertake works in line with drawings, written and verbal instructions. Working in partnership with site colleagues and taking instruction from senior management.

Job Tasks:
• Carry out various groundworks tasks, including excavation, preparation of building foundations, installation of drainage and sewer systems, installation of concrete, installation of kerbs, paving, concrete slabs and hard surfacing.
• Visit job sites and prepare take offs and material orders for upcoming works.
• Operate a range of plant and machinery.
• Work with site managers and other trades to ensure that projects are completed on time and to the required standard.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Keep site records where required.

The successful candidate will:
• Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Adhere to company safe working practices at all times / be Health and Safety aware.
• Be self-motivated.
• Have a good work ethic, good attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Have proven experience working as a groundworker.
• Have a strong knowledge of excavation and groundwork techniques.
• Have the ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
Essential:
• Excellent time management
• Outstanding attendance record
• Valid UK driving license
Preferable/Desirable:
• CSCS operatives card
• Any CPCS qualifications
• Any SMSTS or SSSTS (or similar) qualifications
