Two housebuilders have together bought 46 acres of residential development land in Lasswade, Midlothian.

Housebuilder Bellway Homes has agreed a deal to buy a plot of land at a former opencast mine in East Lothian which is being turned into a new town.

Winchburgh Developments Limited (WDL) has agreed a new contract with Bellway Homes to sell land to the housebuilder for 93 new homes. The deal marks the beginning of the second phase of housebuilding at Winchburgh, which will deliver a further 1,000 private and affordable homes by 2025.

Bellway is celebrating the completion of the final roof at Eastfields in Carntyne, where it has been building since 2007. The housebuilder has constructed 537 houses and 152 apartments at the development, which have played a major role in regenerating this part of Glasgow’s East End.
