South Tyneside-based Castle Building Services has secured a £3 million project to provide full mechanical, electrical, public health & renewable services at the rebuilt East Calder Primary School in West Lothian.

Work is underway to build the new Easthouses Primary School. The new primary, on the site of the old Newbattle High School, will be able to accommodate 459 children. There will be 16 places to support children with Additional Support Needs (ASN) from across Midlothian, and 80 pre-school places.

East Lothian Council has lodged a Pre Application Notice (PAN) for the masterplan to redevelop the former Herdmanflat Hospital in Haddington. Affordable housing for older people that will assist in meeting East Lothian’s growing demand is being prioritised for the land.
