Plans to build a £4 million McDonald’s in Ellon have been withdrawn, however the company intends to resubmit with new plans. McDonald's insisted it remains committed to opening a drive-thru restaurant in Balmacassie Industrial Estate, across from the town’s busy Tesco superstore.

McDonald’s has formally submitted plans to Aberdeenshire Council for a new drive-thru in Ellon. If approved, the drive-thru would bring an estimated investment of £4 million to the town.
