The Scottish Government has announced that it will be easing permitted development rights (PDRs) for rooftop solar.

Solar Energy Scotland (SES) has welcomed the call for the Scottish Parliament to back the country’s solar energy industry, in a motion put forward by Fergus Ewing MSP highlighting the need to scale up solar energy deployment to meet the country’s net zero targets.

Thomas McMillan, Savills UK head of energy consultancy based in Perth, has been appointed as the new chair of Solar Energy Scotland, previously the Solar Trade Association. Mr McMillan aims to use the position to maximise the potential of relatively untapped renewable resource north of the border.
