Construction work of a new bridge over the River Don restarted yesterday after the death of a worker. Ian Walker, 58, from Dundee died at the Third Don Crossing in the Danestone area of Aberdeen on Wednesday.

A construction worker has died following an accident on the Third Don Crossing site in Aberdeen yesterday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the site around 4.45pm but the man, who has been named as Ian Walker, 58, from Dundee, died of his injuries.
Progress is taking shape on the new Third Don Crossing in Aberdeen with all of the major structures nearing completion. All of the retaining walls – including the large retaining wall in Tillydrone as agreed with the local community - are well advanced with concrete having been poured to the Don B
A public meeting has been held to give local residents an update progress on building the Third Don Crossing after the project was delayed from late 2015 to February 2016. The long-awaited bridge will be open by February – eight weeks later than originally planned.
The foundations of Aberdeen’s Third Don Crossing are set to be laid, STV has reported.
